This is NOT my Father’s Country-Part I!

This really should be written on Father’s Day. But it can’t wait! The U.S.A. has been transformed and “changed” by a group of Liberal politicians into what is almost unrecognizable. The United States, mostly until 2008, was a recognizable and mostly without debate the world leader in most categories of the civilized world; not perfect mind you, but pretty darn good.

Now we have something other than “My Father’s Country” and at this moment, I have no word that describes it. I will eventually come up with a descriptive word that will become this country such as it is.

Let’s take a look at why today’s U.S.A. is not anything that my father would recognize. And in doing this exercise, we’ll look mostly at the last four years of management. The first thing that comes to mind is that in one year ago to the day, we lost our long-held AAA credit rating (Standard & Poor’s)! Even jolly ‘ol England continues to maintain a AAA credit rating. For one year now, the U.S.A. has been rated AAa with a negative outlook. Slipping from the highest rating offered, we are now in the company of Austria, France and the Isle of Man. No longer at the top of the heap, countries that are considered a better investment risk than the U.S.A. are England, Canada, Germany, Australia, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong and the Netherlands just to mention a few.

Oh yes…some of you will say the Obama administration inherited this situation from the Bush years. But you know, if that excuse were to be used in the “real world” private sector, that CEO or “Manager” would be on the street looking for another job before you could blink!

So why was BO’s contract extended by voters for another four years? That question has been on the lips of many, many voters since November 8th and it is pretty easy to answer.

When you give people something they think is for no cost to themselves, you lead them right into the voting booth like lambs to the slaughter. Little do they know they will pay a very high price for those Presidential “gifts” given to them over the past four years.

What gifts did he give out you might ask? Well, let’s start with health care for “students” until they reach age 26. That’s a very big “gift”! Assuming a person graduates from high school at age 18, they would then attain a baccalaureate degree in four years or at age 22. Extending another two years for most masters degrees, that makes the “student” well educated at age 24! Then why the extra two years? One can only guess it was BO’s way of “over-gifting” for votes!

The next gift from Santa BO was “Affordable” health care…but that’s a subject for a future installment of Not My Father’s Country.

Faith in my fellow human plummets!

Those who know me personally, will know the situations I speak about. Others will need to rely on the fact that it is a true event and learn something from it. Over the recent few weeks, people who were very special to me, shocked me to the bone!

Several individuals whom I had placed my devoted and nearly blind faith in, revealed themselves to be weak and afraid and not people I would ever choose to have next to me in a foxhole. These people know who they are and should hang their heads in shame. They succumbed to fear! These individuals should have known better as well. They professed they were not only solid in their conservative faith, they were unbending loyal friends as well. I will repeat a saying that someone said to me recently “Just because someone is friendly, does not mean they are a friend.” For many, many years, I have had very few friends, but they are really good ones! I subscribe to the Pareto Principle as well and that alone limits the availability of people who I can bestow that responsibility on. Yes, that’s correct. It is a responsibility to be my friend. It is a position that must be continually earned and never assumed or demanded. Doing so, will have lasting rewards.

Generally, these people of fear are the very similar to the ones who helped the conservative movement fail miserably in the recent election for the same reasons. Once again, all should bow their heads in shame. The conservative movement in this country is mortally wounded and probably will not survive. And maybe it should not survive…at least with the core values that it currently has. Maybe new core value should start with “I will fight fear and intimidation with loyalty and truth.”

One last message particularly to young citizens of this country: Don’t make the mistake that past generations have made. Place your faith and patriotism in something other than the U.S.A. It is no longer the great republic it was designed to be. Why would any person want to be involved with any part of the military in this country? You have not and will not fight for “freedom.” Freedom is the carrot that politicians hold out in front of the “sheeple” of the U.S.A. when needed. And for those that think I am being unpatriotic, ask yourself this question: After the recent election, are you still happy that you “fought for freedom” in the U.S. military and for this country…oh and that you fought for the Constitution?

California is Crashing!!!

And no one is looking or will admit to looking at the real problems of this state. Well, except for at least one person, Dan Walters, columnist for the Sacramento Bee. Today, his column speaks to the bankruptcies facing many if not most cities and towns in the Golden State. I urge everyone to read his piece (http://www.dailyrepublic.com/opinion/statenationalcolumnists/more-california-cities-likely-to-go-bankrupt-2/) and heed his words.

If you don’t believe Dan, then ratchet back a couple of days and read a short editorial in the WSJ (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203897404578076582869722260.html?KEYWORDS=State+of+Dysfunction). This excellent piece explains in easy to understand detail, just how “a new report shows how unions and politicians are bankrupting Illinois”. Within this editorial piece, Illinois is ranked 48th “Best/Worst States for Business 2011” study by Chief Executive magazine (http://chiefexecutive.net/best-worst-states-for-business). Now…if you didn’t skip ahead and look up the answer, I’ll give you three guesses to this question: what state ranks 50th? Did you get it? Bet those who read this blog got it without looking! Yep! It’s California!!! For 2012, California continues to occupy the number one worst ranking in the country…50th!!! While Texas also continues to occupy the number one BEST state to do business in the United States!

It is also interesting to note that all but one in the top ten “best” states are run by conservative management (Republican Governors) and seven out of the bottom ten or “worst” states are run by liberal management (Democratic Governors). The top three “worst” states also account for 25.5% of the U.S. GDP (Gross Domestic Product) are governed by Democrats and are all in the most economic trouble. Now, does that tell you something? Can you say “train wreck?”

Oh…and vote YES on Prop. 32…if it passes, that’ll take the zip out of the union punch!
